[the communicator flickers onto Sif's face, which settles into satisfied lines. she figured it out, this enchanted metal device, so now she can go back to what she was doing -- which is wrapping her free arm around a tree and casually hauling it out of the ground]

If we are to follow the whims of our captors -- which I'm of two minds on, myself -- we should at least begin by figuring out who is best-suited for what. [briskly]

So go on. [she drops the tree, also casually, and then goes to tear out another. she's not sure how much wood they'll need] I require knowledge of how many are here, and what skills you possess. We will want someone with knowledge of plants to forage, and someone with skill at fishing. We will need a source of fresh water, and likely vessels fashioned to carry and hold our supplies in. Those with strength or skill at construction who can put together the shelters, and those who might construct defenses around the constructs.

And those of you who are more accustomed to living in human cities, well... [a beat. trying to think of something charitable] We will probably need someone to -- gather sticks, and the like.

[wide-eyed (though you can't tell) staring! and then scott remembers that he turned on the video function and he should probably definitely say something]

[excuse him as he fumbles with the communicator for a brief moment]

I can help. I learned a few things at my school.

[hesitates] And I have optic beams. [gestures to his ridiculous shades] I can use them to start fires or clear paths. And--uh, if you feel like taking a break from ripping out trees, I can cut them down. Several at a time, but--we'd have to be really careful.

Now that sounds handy. Starting fires without good tinder is hardly my kind of fun. [she doesn't mind that you can shoot lasers from your eyes, Scott! she does in fact pause, brushing a bit of tree detritus from her tunic and putting her hand on her hip] Tell me how we must be careful.

[she doesn't see the problem here]

[well that adds some measure of comfort]

I don't have control over the beam's range. My visor lets me regulate the level of output, but--that's it. I point and I fire. I wouldn't want anyone to accidentally get hurt because they were fifty feet in front of me and hidden behind trees.

So... no people anywhere near me if I do this.

I see the difficulty. [musing. she's not sure how exactly firey eyebeams are a thing, but how isn't important right now] That may yet be a good skill to have. [but if it's unpredictable, perhaps best not to rely upon it]

I don't suppose you know how to make rope, or identify plants that are safe to eat?

[slim]

[he's quick to reply. being useful is totally a thing he wants to be. he knows his powers aren't really... all that helpful.]

I can do that! [a bit more sheepishly] The plants, I mean. And I can fish.

[actlikealady]

Excellent. [the most helpful! she could use more foraging and fishing folk] Banner has volunteered to find things to eat in the jungle, and he could certainly use help. I would like in the future to make nets to catch fish with, but for now it will be a more difficult task.

[slim]

I'm--not really sure who that is. But I'd be glad to help him.

I suppose he'd best arrange a location to meet up, since I imagine not everyone knows him. But if we have people taking care of foraging and fishing, we will be well-prepared.

Well-prepared's good. [he's so bad at this] That's what we'll go for.

I'll keep an eye out for this Banner guy.
