[ After falling asleep on the scratchy, kind of smelly, uncomfortable carpet in the strange "office", one usually doesn't expect to wake up somewhere completely different.

Certainly not a hotter, more tropical version of the Wounded Coast. But the sun and fresh air and increased space did wonders for her mood and ability to accept yet one more odd situation.

And that little device had come with her. More and more interesting. ]

A settlement, hm? Someone is certainly having fun at our expense. [ Stretches and begins to brush the sand from her hair. ] Still, this is much more entertaining. [ She looks up at the sky and salutes.

Then she tucks her gauntlets into her belt and loosens the collar of her armor as she begins her hike along the shoreline. Best to find out if she had been brought here alone, and what sort of people she would need to work with to not dehydrate or starve. ]

Anyone here? Hello? If you're thinking to ambush me, I'll have you know I'm secretly a dragon. Hopefully that will not deter you.

[ Coming upon Sif is fortunate! ] I don't usually advertise it. Particularly because it's not exactly true.

[ Approaches and stands beside the other woman. ] Yours is a familiar and welcome face. Bandits are bad, but being completely alone here would have been worse.

[she sighs, leaning back on her hands; looking up at the clear, clear blue sky] ...Yes, I suppose anything's better than this and alone.

[she takes a beat before turning to look at Hawke, allowing herself more of a smile] And you're one of the more useful ones. [she has doubts about some of the other people she met being able to contribute anything useful to this... settlement that's demanded of them]

[ Hawke's of the same mind, and hoping that some of the people didn't come with them. Though she's fond of collecting strays, baby-sitting is something she works to avoid. ]

Why, thank you. I do like it when I'm considered something other than useless. [ Smiles back, then crouches down and rests her arms on her thighs. ] Have you explored at all?

Not yet. I was -- getting my thoughts together. [a small sigh]

I wonder now if perhaps refusing to do what is asked of us wouldn't be a better course than cooperating.

[ See, thinking is what gets you into trouble. Action first, then get your trusty dwarf to explain why you did what you did.

But that second thought does give her pause. ]

Mayhap, but the problem in refusing is that we risk doing ourselves in. Their desires and our survival unfortunately are in bed together.

[she's got to get her a trusty dwarf] [she grimaces and tilts her head in acknowledgment] It does make the prospect of refusal about as clever as holding one's breath as an act of defiance, doesn't it? [she just. wants to!]

[ They're all the rage in Kirkwall, but hers is the best. ] Mhmm. Though I don't blame you at all. Especially since our captors didn't grace us with their presences last time.

[ Straightens up and offers Sif a hand. ]

[she takes it, getting firmly to her feet. enough feeling sorry for herself. feelings are for losers. and Sif is a winner]

So, then. I believe we were in the process of exploring? [that's right, we were] If possible, we'll want to locate a place on the beach that's close to fresh water.

That was my plan, as well. And enough removed from shore to avoid the tides. [ Hands on her hips, looking around. ] I'm looking forward to this.

[Sif slants her an amused glance] Oh? More your style than that cramped building with all its desks and chairs?

[ Laughs ] Maker, yes. And vastly more interesting than employment applications.

[ Glances over toward the jungle. ] Though I doubt I'll be much use in finding edible plants. I wonder what sort of game there is in a place like this.

Well-- I have rarely been in such jungles, but. [a quick, evaluating look around, and then she shrugs. she won't bet on her own foraging ability unless she has to] Animals and fish that are dangerous to eat often go out of their way to look it. Nothing too brightly-colored or too prickly. We should at least have meat.
