[action] Heatwave! This is our island in the sun...
[ After falling asleep on the scratchy, kind of smelly, uncomfortable carpet in the strange "office", one usually doesn't expect to wake up somewhere completely different.
Certainly not a hotter, more tropical version of the Wounded Coast. But the sun and fresh air and increased space did wonders for her mood and ability to accept yet one more odd situation.
And that little device had come with her. More and more interesting. ]
A settlement, hm? Someone is certainly having fun at our expense. [ Stretches and begins to brush the sand from her hair. ] Still, this is much more entertaining. [ She looks up at the sky and salutes.
Then she tucks her gauntlets into her belt and loosens the collar of her armor as she begins her hike along the shoreline. Best to find out if she had been brought here alone, and what sort of people she would need to work with to not dehydrate or starve. ]
Anyone here? Hello? If you're thinking to ambush me, I'll have you know I'm secretly a dragon. Hopefully that will not deter you.

[what next? a month? four? and it seems less likely this time that she will see her captors at the end of it. not when she doesn't remember sleeping, or any sensation of movement]
[Sif is sitting upright on the sand, her arms propped against her knees, gazing out at the ocean. it could be worse, she thinks. she could still be in that dreadful building...]
[her lips quirk up as she hears Hawke's voice calling out over the sand. lifting her own, shaking off the depression]
You should have mentioned being a dragon earlier.
no subject
[ Approaches and stands beside the other woman. ] Yours is a familiar and welcome face. Bandits are bad, but being completely alone here would have been worse.
no subject
[she takes a beat before turning to look at Hawke, allowing herself more of a smile] And you're one of the more useful ones. [she has doubts about some of the other people she met being able to contribute anything useful to this... settlement that's demanded of them]
no subject
Why, thank you. I do like it when I'm considered something other than useless. [ Smiles back, then crouches down and rests her arms on her thighs. ] Have you explored at all?
no subject
I wonder now if perhaps refusing to do what is asked of us wouldn't be a better course than cooperating.
no subject
But that second thought does give her pause. ]
Mayhap, but the problem in refusing is that we risk doing ourselves in. Their desires and our survival unfortunately are in bed together.
no subject
no subject
[ Straightens up and offers Sif a hand. ]
no subject
So, then. I believe we were in the process of exploring? [that's right, we were] If possible, we'll want to locate a place on the beach that's close to fresh water.
no subject
That was my plan, as well. And enough removed from shore to avoid the tides. [ Hands on her hips, looking around. ] I'm looking forward to this.
no subject
no subject
[ Glances over toward the jungle. ] Though I doubt I'll be much use in finding edible plants. I wonder what sort of game there is in a place like this.
no subject
no subject
A dragon, huh?
no subject
To be perfectly honest, I never got the witch to teach me that trick. The biggest regret of my life, naturally. [ She approaches, grinning. ]
Seems you're an unfazable sort.
no subject
Yeah, well I'm just cool that way. [He puffs on the cigar] You get a witch to teach you that and I'd like to learn it.
no subject
[ Now she's considering what else he said. ] Perhaps I'll trade for your trick of staying "cool" in heat like this. [ She has possibly misunderstood your slang. ]
no subject
[He chuckles at her trade. It can be taken both ways.] Helps to be fireproof. Good cigar doesn't hurt either. [He digs one out of his pocket and offers it to her.]
no subject
Have you seen anyone else around?
no subject
They ain't.
[Being chased that is.]
no subject
[ Holds up her device. ]
Did you get this message too?
no subject
[ he nods at her question. ]
Yeah, I've been considerin' how we're going to make that happen and what happens if we don't.
no subject
Dragon?
[who cares about this coconut sitting on the ground, that sounds way more interesting and Bart's dropping that coconut like it's hot (which it actually is) and zipping over until he's about three feet away from Hawke.]
Are you like a shapeshifting dragon? Because you don't look like a dragon right now.
no subject
What, you've never heard of shapeshifting dragons?
no subject
Not shapeshifting dragons. But we do have Miss Martian, and she can shapeshift into whatever she wants. [partial headtilt.] She could probably turn into a dragon if she wanted to.
Does that mean you can turn into whatever you want too?
no subject
Do you have many friends with special abilities like that? [ Since you said "we". ]
no subject
Yeah, a ton.
[he starts ticking them off his fingers.]
There's Blue Beetle, whose got an alien thing stuck to his back that gives him all sorts of cool powers, and Robin 3.0 who's basically a living ninja - guy gives me the creeps sometimes with how he disappears and reappears outta nowhere - and Wondergirl who pretty much has super-everything. And then there's Beast Boy and Arsenal and everyone else too.
[his smile turns a little wistful at the thought.]
I wish they were here with us. I bet they could get us out of this place in no time.
no subject
No doubt they could. If we put your friends and mine together, we'd pretty much rule this place.
What's your name?
no subject
[He almost spit out his name on accident - this lady seems nice and there's not that many of them stuck here on this island - but after numerous times of being yelled at for accidentally revealing secret IDs, Bart finally gotten it drilled into him that privacy is in fact a good thing.]
What about you? You look pretty crash and tough. You probably have a name that matches, huh?
no subject
instead he just -- woke up abruptly on the beach, communicator beside him, job application nowhere to be seen, no memory of going to sleep or even closing his eyes.
it's not great. but he pushes himself upright eventually, and then he spends a minute or two staring down at the message on his communicator.
when she approaches, he doesn't even look up, just says ]
You can try to eat me, but I'm pretty sure you'd get indigestion.
no subject
[ He appears unarmed, though she can see he keeps his body in good condition; perhaps that is his weapon, then. But she continues to approach. Wouldn't do for anyone to start thinking she had developed too much caution. ]
no subject
--That's fair. I feel exactly the same way. But I'll admit I didn't think dragons discriminated.
no subject
And they usually don't. Though the witch did say the darkspawn turned her stomach. But mayhap that's just the intelligent ones.
no subject
[ but the rest of what you just said is pretty interesting ] What kind of dark are we talking there? Is this a racism thing? Because I was feeling pretty progressive just now.
no subject
You do like to talk, don't you. [ He reminds her of Varric, but not as charming as her trusty dwarf. ]
Darkspawn. Creatures of the Blight that follow the whim of the Archdemon. Not the most fun to have at parties. [ Pushes up her sleeves a little more; the armor doesn't have much give, but she manages. ]
no subject
So, not a skin color thing. That's good.
You wouldn't happen to be from Blackmoor, by any chance? [ he was a nerdy teenager in the 80s with no friends, of course he knows D&D ]
no subject
Blackmoor? No. We have a Blackmarsh in Amaranthine, but I prefer cities that aren't drowning in muck and ghosts and ruins.
I'm Hawke, by the way. Marian Hawke. [ Offers her hand. ]
no subject
Amaranthine being -- what? Region? Territory? Nation?
[ he takes the hand after a heartbeat, and his shake is firm. ] Bond. James Bond.
Or Tony Stark, whichever you wanna go with.
no subject
James Bond of Tony Stark, maybe? [ She can be a troll too. ]
Amaranthine is in Ferelden, in Thedas. Ferelden's my homeland, but I live in Kirkwall now. [ Smirks ] They were silly enough to give me a title. Would be a shame not to stay.
no subject
Oh yeah? People do that sometimes. Are you a doctor now?
no subject
No, I'm no healer. The Champion of Kirkwall kills things and people for the greater good. [ A beat. ] And profit.
It's nice to meet you, Tony Stark.
no subject
It usually is. I'm a pleasure to meet.
But I know how that goes.
