[Everyone will wake up suddenly, as if having drifted off -- while sitting upright in an uncomfortable office chair. In one hand they're holding the communicator, and in their lap is propped a clipboard with a job application (standard, looking something like this; it requests up to ten years of job history, ) and a pen. The waiting room is also fairly standard, except for being empty.]

[The communicator's lock screen reads, Complete the job application. Time limit, twenty-four hours.]

[There are magazines, fake plants, and computers. There's a staff lounge with food -- tupperware that might have belonged to some of these nonexistent workers, popcorn and cocoa packets, vending machines -- and restrooms. There are exits, but characters will be unable to use them... or make their own, or escape in any way.]

[So the characters are stuck here, until tomorrow morning. Set up a comment telling everyone what your character is doing, and thinking, whether they're obeying the task or not, at any time during the day. Then tag other people! Be sure to check back later in the week, when people are encouraged make threads for the evening as well as the day! Characters that have been claimed are also welcome at this point to join the community, and will be able to make their own posts, which can be tagged by anyone taking part in the event.]

[even though that hardly proves anything -- of course Lavi would say Jordan, that was the last time things were okay, when they all divided up to handle the Noah attack, grim but determined; it has emotional impact, it doesn't require explanation of what happened after that, the thespian in Allen applauds it -- his heart still clenches in response]

...That was months ago, Lavi. [soft] You don't remember -- anything after you left for China?

[and then he tells himself, maybe it is Lavi, maybe something's been done to him, maybe he doesn't remember, and then just like that he starts to feel the paralysis melt away]

--You're okay. [he eases up a tiny bit, and -- and he even wraps his arms around her. warm. alive and real and almost human, the way she always is. she's okay. it makes a tiny bit of the unhappiness that's been lurking in him for months start to ease]

I wouldn't... say rescue, but... [but he is here!] Have you been here long?

Don't think I've heard'a that custom before. [he's a bit privately amused by what she's wearing, but he doesn't show it] Pizza's not one of my specialties, I'm afraid. You didn't find anything in the fridge?

[ And then, before he can answer, it clicks!

Lucina manages an embarrassed little smile. Her face softens a few degrees from her normal, stern expression. ]

I suppose, for battle, my attire is a bit too well kept. That is Sir Frederick's doing. But, this is hardly dressed up. Please, do not feel ashamed of your own clothing.

[ SHE THINKS SHE'S HELPING. ]

[ It's a new custom. She made it up. Kicks her feet a little. ]

Hmmm, let me see that! [there's actually something different about her vibe, and he gives her a measuring look as he opens the refrigerator. it's hard to make out, tuned down to the RG the way he is. but he pulls the look into a smile] You might want to put on pants if you're gonna sit there. Not exactly hygienic, ya dig?

That was three hours ago. [ There's a faint sort of panic in his voice as his own suspicions start to crumble. No one is that good of an actor to fake Allen's concern, right? Allen and Lenalee -- nobody feels that much.

But if it is Allen, then what is going on? ]

[ Well, that settles that, then. Maybe. Looks up with a raised eyebrow. ]

My other thought was it might be too much of a stretch for you.

[he smiles at her, holding up the wet filter] It helps the flavor if you wash the filter before using it. It's sort of an expert technique. [a wink] You run a cafe for a few years, you learn all the tricks.

It was very fortuitous you arrived when you did, my lord. I doubt I would have ever have figured this out. [ She smiles, her words genuine. And then -- ]

You said you were from Japan. Is that within Cosplay?

[ Cosplay is a nation, right? ]

[he leans back in his seat, casting an amused look at the other man. he overheard that] ...Oh, so when referring to a group, you're supposed to call it a herd of nerds? I've been saying it wrong all this time.

[scott had pulled the visor back and replaced it with the large glasses he'd "borrowed" but his costume couldn't be covered up. then again, walking around in yellow and blue spandex didn't seem like the strangest apparel present at the moment compared to some of the other people stuck in the building.]

[in a slight daze, scott wanders into the staff lounge, clipboard and communicator held tightly with both hands. he's not... exactly sure what to make of the situation. one minute he'd been sitting in the blackbird heading for new york city and the next--well. he's staring down a vending machine.]

[no, like--seriously just staring at it. not moving much, just standing there with the two given items in his hands, and being lost in deep thought. probably a little weird.]

[Allen, you are the best at comforting. She glances at the 'time limit' on the communicator. Temporary... ]

M-maybe we'll get to go home if we fill this out. [and maybe this is just a really vivid dream]

Ahh, but would you want to eat pizza that someone had prepared on that countertop? [an elaborate shrug, shaking his head]

Nah. It's more a religious affiliation. It's not really my scene -- well, except on special occasions. [good-naturedly rattling on as he sets the filter, shakes in the coffee grounds, and then slowly adds the water. almost there...!]

But there's no need for titles, Missy. I'm Sanae Hanekoma -- most folks just call me Mr. H. [another smile for her] And you are?

[ She can only imagine the fit Lelouch would have if he had to. Or he might just shove her off and wiped the counter down. And then made something that was definitely not pizza. Kicks legs again. ]
