[Everyone will wake up suddenly, as if having drifted off -- while sitting upright in an uncomfortable office chair. In one hand they're holding the communicator, and in their lap is propped a clipboard with a job application (standard, looking something like this; it requests up to ten years of job history, ) and a pen. The waiting room is also fairly standard, except for being empty.]

[The communicator's lock screen reads, Complete the job application. Time limit, twenty-four hours.]

[There are magazines, fake plants, and computers. There's a staff lounge with food -- tupperware that might have belonged to some of these nonexistent workers, popcorn and cocoa packets, vending machines -- and restrooms. There are exits, but characters will be unable to use them... or make their own, or escape in any way.]

[So the characters are stuck here, until tomorrow morning. Set up a comment telling everyone what your character is doing, and thinking, whether they're obeying the task or not, at any time during the day. Then tag other people! Be sure to check back later in the week, when people are encouraged make threads for the evening as well as the day! Characters that have been claimed are also welcome at this point to join the community, and will be able to make their own posts, which can be tagged by anyone taking part in the event.]

[Road bounces into the chair across from his table, neatly crossing her legs at the ankle before huffing.]

This is boring. [Her own job application is on her lap, but also left ignored for now.]

[With a few ripping sounds, his wire hair finally tugs free. Zelgadis sits back on his heels and starts fussing lightly with his bangs to make sure there's no tufts in them, at last getting a peek at the guy who seems to be in the same boat.]

[Huh, white hair. Well, he's seen worse -- he is worse.] Same here. I've never seen anyplace like this.

[sublimating]

[he offers a wry smile. your exasperated, somewhat reluctant response is very familiar to him] Nice. Good optimism, there. I like it. Don't... believe it, or anything, but I like it.

[he is rather resigned to the idea that this will end in violence, himself]

Not to add to your rough year or anything. Sorry to hear about that, by the way. [heh] I can relate. [he's had a lot of rough years]

[He may be the weirdest person, but he's the best weirdest person! At least, that's what Road thinks as she makes a beeline for him.]

Allen!! [suddenly being stuck in this stupid room without the ability to use her doors doesn't seem so exasperating anymore!!]

[ Eyebrow. Funny, she didn't think she was all that uptight. Certainly not as bad as Sebastien. ]

If by "convention" you mean a place where lots of people go to meet and drink bad liquor, then I suppose so. I usually call that a bar.

What? [he looks back at Lavi, torn for a second. he can't suspect Lavi. but it's not him. stop acting so innocent!!] ...Why? How long do you remember it being?

[he hasn't yet managed to recover from his paralysis, really. he doesn't know what to think, or... feel]

[ Not looking up from the report. ]

I -- [ she pauses in her surprise, not expecting him to ask, ] I am well, sir. Yourself?

I can only assume not. [Giant rodents are not typically known for their powers of teleportation. Or whatever this might be. And genius though Rugen is in his dastardly way, he's not the one who threw the switch.]

Fortunately, and considering, [he gestures at their surroundings] I seem in remarkably good health. [For a dead man. But he'll just keep that tidbit to himself for the present time.] And yourself?

[ Crappy, he wants to say. Because life sort of sucks right now. But instead he just smiles a little. ]

Okay. A little confused about being here, though. Are you here for Comics-A-GoGo? I don't think that's going on yet. [ He might already have pre-registered. So he knows when it is. He's just trying to be nice. ]

I imagine not... [wow, he really was not mistaken, you are all rock, aren't you? he rests his elbows on his thighs, sitting back on his haunches] Where are you from, if you don't mind my asking? I-- [ehe] I was in Belgium the last I checked... [and there weren't any. you know. rock people there]

[he's focused on his clipboard so he doesn't notice her until she calls out his name, and then -- he jerks up, rising to his feet, eyes wide] Road!

[he thinks... he might be... happy to see you!]

[That he has no clue where "Belgium" might be is just the latest bit of bad news in his life. Either this guy's a terrible liar, or this is worse than he thought.] Taforashia is where I was last, but not where I'm from. I've never heard of anywhere called Belgium, and I've traveled all over.

[ Her eyes widen a fraction, floundering visibly at his question. Is she here for what? ]

No, I am here for no such thing. I have to write this examination.

[ She holds up her application sheet.

No, she has no idea what it's for or why she's doing it. ]

It is not familiar to me. [ Lucina watches him intently, so she can learn the secrets of this magic device for her own future use. ]

What is that?

[ She points to the thing he just did. Whatever that is. I don't drink coffee, go away. ]

[ Allen's behavior is unsettling; not at all what he would have expected. Some of that... shine is gone. Either the somebody's acting job is shit, or something's really wrong. ]

[ Would the CIA or NSA send someone like her for a mission? He guesses it's not unheard of. Or maybe he's somebody he should be scared wary of? ]

Oh! So you're here for a job too, huh? [ Channeling a little of Agent Carmichael, but he's not really in the mindset for a full-on agent-ing right now. ] Dressing up to make sure they remember you, I get it. That's a good idea. [ Ehehehe. ]

[huh. she folds her arms a little, and allows] I see. I suppose that is a noble thought, though it seems this could be avoided with a firmer hand. [make it so that no one would think to cross you! rrr]

[ She's sitting on the counter by the sink in the kitchen, wearing nothing but one of Lelouch's button-down shirts and panties, and looking very bored. ]

It's not a real break unless there's pizza.

I had no injuries to speak of. I was at court the last I remember, and then I was waking here, without warning. Things should have been peaceful. [inasmuch as they could be, with strife growing beyond Asgard's borders. so it makes sense that some powerful sorcerer must have done this. but she skims her gaze over him, and then decides he is in good enough condition for the moment, so she straightens up and continues briskly] I am Sif. And I expect we both find ourselves in need of an exit.

[maidenlysense]

Europe... [She follows Allen's gaze around the room before sinking into the chair next to him. Suddenly all of her worst fears are confirmed... She's been kidnapped overseas into an office full of fake plants.]

That's -- really far, isn't it? From Australia, that is. [she may be on the verge of a freak out]

It does sound like a bar. [agreeing, and then he lifts a hand to point at the armor] So that... That's just how you go out for drinks? Leather and steel and all?

Don't tell me you think I'm behind this. [she gives a little offended sniff.] I'd never dream up a place as dull as this one.

T-- Taforashia? [echoing that name very carefully in a delicate way that makes it really super obvious that he has never heard it before] I thought of myself as something of a traveler as well... I don't suppose that's in the Americas.

[shaking his head, and then lifting a hand to rub at the back of his skull] Though I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. If we can't identify where we are now, why should it be odd that I don't know where you were originally? [a sigh]
