[ Sometime in the night, despite the fire and the fever, and wearing every piece of clothing, the chill he'd been dealing with deepens, bringing on bouts of shivering that wakes him and then keeps him up until well after sunrise.

He's been dozing on and off, as he did for most of yesterday, and doing his best to be unobtrusive. "Lavi's" penchant for grabbing attention is the last thing he thinks to play up when all it will do is advertise his vulnerable state. And he doesn't trust himself to keep up pretenses when everything hurts and he is having a hard time seeing.

He doesn't know it, but the blood vessels in his eye have begun to turn black.

As evening approaches, he does move back over toward the fire, glassy-eyed, chalk-pale and disoriented.

And, eventually, whatever grace period he's maintained from that Noah's parasites expires, and he begins to convulse, making strangled, pained sounds and foaming at the mouth. ]


((OOC: I'm devating a tiiiny bit, because Lavi's going to be conscious and able to talk, but eventually he will become catatonic until day 6 or so. Any questions, or want to work something out, hit me up on plurk. :3 ))

I brought you something to eat for dinner. [Allen steps barefoot through the sand, with a roasted fish and an avocado in hand. hungry as he is, he's been keeping it to himself, sticking to the same amount everyone else is eating]

How do you feel? [the question is innocent enough, although when he gives Lavi a measuring glance and catches the blackening of his eyes, he stiffens]

[ He hears the offer, and question, but it takes a long, slow moment for him to understand them. ]

Thanks... but go ahead an' eat it. [ Rubs his hands together and then tucks them into his sleeves. ] Not really hungry.

Try anyway. Someone told me avocado is healthy for you. [absently, pressing it into lavi's hand; he steps closer to get a good look] Do you feel worse than you did yesterday? Can you see alright?

[ He takes it, then sets it in the sand beside him, and looks up at the white-and-red blur that is Allen. The blood vessels are not only black, but it is encroaching into the white of the eye. ]

Y'know avocados are technically berries? [ Here, have some tired, random trivia. ] And they're related to cinnamon.

Food's not going t'sit well with me right now. [ Even if he was hungry, the idea of eating anything makes his throat hurt. ]

They're related to cinnamon, that's completely-- [frowning at you, that's so strange it actually distracts him for a beat before he shakes his head]

Your eye is-- You don't look good. You didn't answer the question.

[ Smiles faintly when Allen does get distracted. Aside from not having to immediately answer the question, he just likes telling people things.

But it fades when the topic gets back on track. ]

It's worse today, yeah. Can't get warm, either. [ Hands go back into his sleeves, pulls his knees up to his chest. ]

[can't get warm? it's been hot all day. all week. it's cooler now that it's night, but...] I'm going to get my jacket. Hold on a moment. [getting to his feet and heading back for the area where he's been keeping his belongings]

[he wishes he knew what had happened to Chaozii -- what he'd been through -- but he thins his lips and straightens again, pushing that thought away. turning back, he drags up as much lightness as he can manage]

When was the last time you were sick?

[ Even with a fever, he's freezing! And he takes the opportunity to zone out again when Allen leaves, so it takes another few seconds to register the question... and another handful while he tries to think. ]

Can't remember right now. How 'bout you? [ Faint laugh. ] When it wasn't Komui's fault--

[ Cuts off with a choked sound, as all his muscles lock up over and over, and he starts to shake. ]
