[ It’s only a few hours after sunrise when Lucina fetches up her communicator. She’s a seasoned hand at going without long stretches of sleep and has already made herself useful. There’s a steady, crackling fire going on the beach and above it, a fair amount of speared fish roasting calmly. (They’re dead. That’s why they’re calm.) There’s also a small selection of forest fruit – calabaza, naseberries and soursop – resting on her strewn cape, less than a foot away from the fire pit.

She’s noticeably sunburnt. Her boots are off and her trousers are rolled up to her knees, leaving her with bright red patches on her lower legs to match the one on her nose. She also doesn’t seem particularly bothered by the affliction, her tone even and her face halfway to a smile. ]

I have managed to get some food for us. Should anyone wish to break their fast, there is a serviceable selection at the beach. Come quick, for I’m afraid it will be first come, first serve.

[ The communicator feed clicks off, and then clicks back on. ]

And, um – good morning, friends.

[ She smiles! Inigo would be so proud of her. The call closes once again. You can call her back, either to yell at her for waking you up or yell at her for not grabbing the fruit you like, or just come down and eat. Threadjacking and mingling are encouraged. ]

[ Chuck is not usually an early riser, but the smell of cooking things pulls him awake because he is so hungry. To whom, to whom, is he grateful for this wonderfulness?

He half-sleepily crawls his way over to the fire. ] Drrrr yrrrr cfffeeee?

[ Lucina looks up at a familiar voice, her attention still half on turning over the fish on their makeshift grill. His sputtered jumble of consonants is not translatable to Ylissean, leaving her rather confused. ]

Ah, ...Chuck? Are you well?

[ Fire warm. Too much warm is dangerous. He stops crawling and manages to sit in a sleepy lump. ]

Coffeeee? [ He'll really remember in a minute where he is. For now, he just sounds pathetic hopeful. ]

[ She knows what coffee is, only thanks to Mr. H, but also knows there isn't any available. Ordinarily, Lucina would offer to fetch him some water but there are no cups, no canteens. ]

There is no coffee. [ If she was aware of coffee's amazing waking properties, she'd be more sympathetic. ] Try to wake up, and then eat something. You'll need the energy.

[ Rubs at his eyes, and opens them fully, stifling a yawn. Oh. Right.

Deserted island. No coffee and no bathrooms. ]

Kind of wish I could go back to sleep... maybe it's all a bad dream. [ Sigh. ] Did you catch all these?

[ She doesn't comment on his wishing, merely gives a small smile to herself. At his question, she nods. ]

Yes. To be honest, it took me some time. The reef rocks are rather slippery. [ Just when she thought she hadn't inherited any of her mother's clumsiness... ] Please, help yourself.

Lucina! [he was just following the smell of the food, and he's a bit relieved to find it's her. partially because it's easier to get food out of someone you've already met. drawing near, the red on his own super-white face and arms -- well, one of his arms -- also obvious, and also being ignored. he starts to settle down across from her]

You look like an old hand at this. You've gathered quite a bit [just a quick polite detour to survey smalltalkville before he begs...]

[ Wow, he is impressed! Gets over his tiny ennui and smiles at her. ]

Wow, thanks! You should get a prize or something. [ The fish look so tasty. ] Are the fish ready? [ Stomach grumbles. ]

[ Drops down at the fire, actually glad for the warmth, despite the location. He offers a tired grin, and then gestures to her legs and face. ]

If you go soak in the stream a little while, that won't hurt so much. [ Is helpful! ]

[ Approaches the campsite with some contributions! Namely, about six things that look like they might have been rodents, skinned and spitted. ]

Good morning! I see we had similar thoughts. [ She is in the BEST MOOD. ]

[ Of course, she takes his comment completely seriously. ] A prize is not necessary, but I appreciate it all the same.

[ As she's speaking, she removes the closest skewered grilled fish and offers it out to him. ]

Well, that's a real nice offer. Can I see what you've got there?

[smiling, genial, friendly, definitely not casually checking your assortment for anything poisonous]

[ Politely, she does not comment on his similar sunburns, the same way she's yet to comment on his arm, his scar, or his hair. ] My garrison were often forced to camp outdoors for weeks at a time. The only difference here is the heat.

Are you hungry, Allen?

[ It's almost like a choir of angels burst into song when he takes the skewer. It smells great and like food and so now he's going to blow on it so he can eat it faster. ]

Thank you. [ Blooooooow bloooooow. ] You should eat some too. Before the others come.

Yes, of course.

[ Moving to stand, she holds the phone down and hopefully over the spread of food, moving it slowly from the sort of-grill to the spread of fruit. She's tasted it when she could remember, but it's possible that it slipped her mind, generally having other people to taste her food for her back home. ]

[ Lucina's already moving some of the well cooked fish off the fire and onto the breakfast table cape. ]

That's quite fortuitous, [ she agrees, her tone pleasant. ] There's room on the fire should you wish to cook your game.

[ Her gaze follows where he gestures, and she frowns down at her legs for a tiny moment. ]

Oh, thank you, but that won't be necessary. It's not bothersome.

[ Read: She'll do it later when no one's looking. ]

I'll take my repast once everyone else has had their share.

[ If she has to go back out and catch another fish later, that's no real concern. ]

"Repast" is a good word. [ Okay... it's cool enough. He takes a bite out of the fish -- skin and bones and all. He'd never have done that back in Burbank. ]

If you-- oh this is good-- [ Whoops, mouth full. Chews and swallows before continuing. ] Let me know if you need help.

[ Advice dispensed! She can totally take it when it's least embarrassing for her. ]

When I was a kid, the first time I got sunburnt was with my mentor. [ Chuckles, and pulls his knees up to his chest. ] Turned as red as my hair. [ Wraps his arms around his knees and looks into the fire. Gramps had better be all right. ]

[--okay, it all seems to check out, he doesn't see anything obviously inedible in there] That looks great. I've got some of that myself -- would you like me to come down and chip in to what you've got? You might get a lot of hungry mouths to feed since you've taken out an ad. [a little grin]

[ Aww, he likes it! She's glad. ]

I am. [gratefully] I don't suppose I could ask for one of those fish if they're ready?

Mm, please, sir. That would be quite helpful.

[ She's prepared for the inevitably that by the time everyone else has eaten, she'll have to go back out and scour for her own food. If there's a way to avoid that, she'll take it. ]

[ Lucina listens politely, without interrupting. She's rarely ever anything but wholly covered and has never been sunburnt before. At least it's not permanent! ]
