[ Peter is sitting cross-legged on the sand inland far enough that he's past the rising tide. He's got a stick in one hand and he's drawing something in the sand. He's very clearly focused on what he's drawing. Occasionally, he reaches up and blurs out what he's written with the heel of his hand then re-draws it.

If one stands over his shoulder and looks, his sand drawings are clearly plans for some kind of shelter. He's taking their mission seriously, not necessarily because it was dictated to them, but because he wants to be prepared. No one will be surprised that he was a boy scout when he was younger. ]

[ Has been wandering, a little slowly, for a bit, trying to find other people. And now he has! Someone who seems to be working pretty hard at something. Lavi makes his way over, and shields his eye from the sun as he looks over that person's shoulder. ]

How many rooms do you think we're going t'need?

[ Peter pauses, glancing over his shoulder at Lavi before looking back to his design ]

I think we could get away with one, but two might make everyone feel a little better. We could separate it into boys and girls if we like or sleeping and eating. How ever people want it separated.

Do you need any stick figures? I can draw those.

Full disclosure: there should've been an "only" in that last sentence.

[ hi Peter. she woke up on the edge of the sea, and for a while she thought she was dreaming again, but. then she saw the communicator.

[ peter looks up more than a little irritated. ]

Actually, it was plans for a shelter so that when night comes, we've all got a place to sleep. Now, it's something I've got to start over.

[Leeeeeaning over Peter's shoulder, mostly because the fact that this boy is calmly drawing things in the sand instead of angrily shouting at the sky or panicking like a chicken with its head cut off it more than enough to pique Scott's interest.

That, and he just wants to see what Peter's drawing.]

Not bad. Major in civil engineering?

[He looks up with a grin, happy to see a familiar face.]

I could use a couple. I mean we're going to have to figure out necessary space. Stick figures are perfect for that.

[Peter looks up at Scott.]

Oh. No. I just like building things. I figured, I might as well get started on the shelter thing and get an idea of what we need.

[promisebreaker]

You missed the crazy office. [He sits back on his heels a bit.] Whether I believe it or not is irrelevant in regards to a shelter. I want a place to sleep tonight that's dry and protected from wind. I can worry about the kidnappers when that's finished.

[antiapocalypse]

Just point me at the right hut.

...These are huts, right?

[promisebreaker]

Well...yeah. I mean. Sort of? I was thinking more primitive. Just something to protect us from the elements. A couple of bigger rooms. Maybe more, depending on how many people we've got here. It's a hut? With two rooms. Sleeping and living. Or boys and girls, depending--depending on how people want to [ swallow. this makes him nervous and he's not sure why ] you know...separate them.

[He points to one of the rooms.] You could draw a sleeping stick figure there.

Probably not so much with the co-ed. [ aww, Peter. but she leans forward and dutifully adds a stick figure! it's... sort of horizontal. ]

Is that "sleeping"? It feels more like "fell over, can't get up".

[promisebreaker]

[ Peter can't help laughing. It's not at her; it's because of her and that's infinitely better, isn't it? ]

We might need to send aid. [ he leans over, stretching to draw a little stick figure that appeared to be helping Buffy's stick figure up, or at least holding it's hand out to it. ] There.

[ she kind of can't handle that for a minute, and then she's smiling so hard ]

[ he looks up at her, appreciating that smile for a minute before he sits back and nods. ]

All better. [ he bites his bottom lip and looks down at the drawing. ] Wanna help me gather up materials for this?

Belatedly I realized, she really can't break him.

[He stands up.] We're going to need some good sized branches. I wish they'd given us tools to work with.

[He flexes his wrists. He's wearing his shooters and they're loaded so he'll be able to bind together pretty much anything they find. He can break branches and limbs, but getting the right break (and a clean one) might be more difficult.]

[ Nods along with the explanation, still looking downat the drawing in the sand. ]

Sounds like you've got things figured out. Architect?

[ limited supply of webbing material, Peter! ]

Well -- maybe they did.

Oh. No. High school student. I just like putting things together.

well, no. I just meant he's durable. Lol

[Very true. With no promise of any more. He'll have to use it sparingly. Damn. That means no swinging through the trees just because it's fun...because it is. ]

Maybe. I guess we should start looking for that first.

[ there she trails off ] Wow. I don't remember. Not even a little bit.

[ in her defense there were some cute boys without shirts, but now she is thinking "that can't be a good sign for the show. no way it's gonna last."

because she's from 2001. and she has no idea what's to come. ]

It's okay. [He points to his head.] It's up here.

[He turns to her a little.]

I'm Peter Parker. Local engineer, I guess. Except there's people here who are lots more qualified for this than I am.

Kiss each other? Stab someone in the back? Sell their grandma to win?

[He's taking a stab at it. He's watched it enough, but never got really invested.]

You know they're never going to actually let anyone starve or get hurt, right? I mean not on purpose. Accidents happen, but if they see it coming...

[Scott knows that feeling, the liking building things feeling. He does plenty of that in his spare time. Or, well, used to before all of--this. (He's still not sure what all of this is.) But that can happen later. Right now Scott's crouching down to Peter's level, in order to get a better glace at the rough plan in the sand.]

Sounds reasonable. What types of materials are you looking at? Obviously there's plenty of wood here, but we'll need something to hold the construct together.

[ giving you a slightly weird but not unamused look ] I was trying to remember how they gave the people their supplies, [ that's... a thing they do right? ] but I haven't watched all that much of it.
